Over 80 years ago this faith community faithfully looked at how
they could begin a Legacy of Love to future generations and this
was the birth of what we know now as the Century Memorial Fund
in which we presently derive 15.5% (approximately $28,000.00) of
our annual income to meet church expenses. Below is a historical
excerpt from our web page:
~ Pastor Mark
"The next great anniversary observation at First Methodist
Episcopal Church in Volney, was the Centennial of the First
Methodist Episcopal Society of Fulton, 1926. The designated
dates of the celebration were April 15-18. This three day
celebration was filled with historical and fun-filled events
from a reunion with a song service to a historical review of
the past hundred years. Another feature of the day was the
launching of the drive for the Memorial Fund for which a
nucleus of $6,500 had already been secured."
Isn’t it our turn? I believe it is and ask that we come together and
proclaim this truth. To help move us in this direction you are
invited to the Fulton First UMC Family Reunion celebration on
Sunday, October 17th beginning with worship at 9:45 a.m. Following
worship, we will all gather for a celebration lunch. Sunday school
will be cancelled that Sunday so we call all fellowship together and
share a meal.

No Limits!
The goal, as we look forward to 2011 and our celebration on
making a financial commitment in the year ahead. To prayerfully
and faithfully embrace a Legacy of Love that will inspire our
children and youth in their faith journey so that 25 years down the
October 17th , is that our church family will participate 100% in
making a financial commitment in the year ahead. To prayerfully
they share how this faith community touches lives and you will be
seeing real life illustrations of how our decisions today can
profoundly affect our world and community in so many tangible
ways. I first ask you to pray. Pray about this privilege to make a
difference. I next ask you to join me, and this entire community
of faith, to ponder the meaning of extravagant generosity. The
simple truth is either way our actions will create a legacy. We are
empowered, by free will to decide what it will be – a legacy of lack
– or a Legacy of Love.
