Recent Events:
Vacation Bible School 2014 featured five nights of fun: music and dancing, crafts, food, skits
and stories and fun and games!

From July 14 - 18, from 6:00 pm - 9:00 each evening kids of all ages throughout the community
gathered at the First United Methodist Church for the event, which was free of charge to
everyone, and sponsored through the generous gifts and hard work of the people at our
church.
BOOK CLUB
Here are a few of the many words of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, as written in Eric Metaxas' book,
Bonhoeffer:  Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy:

"Where a people prays, there is the church, and where the church is, there is never
loneliness."

"It is much easier for me to imagine a praying murderer, a praying prostitute, than a vain
person praying.  Nothing is so at odds with prayer as vanity."

"The religion of Christ is not a tidbit after one's bread, on the contrary, it is the bread or it is
nothing.  People should at least understand and concede this if they call themselves
Christian."

                                                                             --Dietrich Bonhoeffer*

Join the Book Club on Sunday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the church library as we discuss
the many aspects of the fascinating life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
